Oh soooo sad!

I live in so cal. I’ve been looking for an Airedale for years. A young one male or female.

Donated- thanks for letting us know.

Just a note that we donated but if you want to go through pay pal you have to go to their website.

Just made a donation 🙂

Can you please post pictures once they are getting better and pictures of the puppies as well????

Will make a donation today. We would also be interested in rescuing a puppy.

Donated!

I shared with The Real Airedale Terrier Owner's Group in hopes of getting more donations and adoption interest.

I made a donation earlier today!

Sharing an update from the Texas Airedale Rescue Team on TART 11. This is Cheryl Silver in Austin. Thought you would like to know that a small group of us went to Anne Barlow's kennel yesterday and bathed 8 of the gang..........they were unbelievably filthy. A number of them were caked with feces and matted like crazy. Pretty freaked out by the water but generally cooperative. Two of the dogs are at my house and have been getting VIP care (one of the pregnant girls and one of the girls with the worst eyes). This morning they seemed to be so happy and are loving the attention. Eating fairly well. We have a lot of work ahead of us getting everyone vetted but knowing we have your support is an enormous help. cheryl silver and the gang in austin

Would love to see pictures of these Airedales and puppy’s too. We love our Dales and would be interested . We live in Wyoming. I would like to have more information when possible.

I would very much like to adopt one of these sweet pups! I sent in an application. Just waiting to hear from y'all! Im in Richardson and did some confirmation showing of Welshes and Giant Aierdales in my youth! Just lost my 16 year old Parsons Russel.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared the story of the Texas 11 (+ puppies). You have raised over $2,100 to date through Facebook to help Becky Preston, Cheryl Silver and the rest of the TART team with the costs. Thanks to Facebook, no processing fees will be withheld. This is in addition to the amounts that have been donated through the website or directly to TART. Update from Nicole: It is with a heavy heart that I write Sadie has joined all the greats before her at the Rainbow Bridge. She was surrounded by family as she passed away. Please look to the stars and hug your furkids a little tighter. Her family is incredibly thankful for everyone's generosity and appreciate the support and help.
***
From Nicole Wobbe-Espinoza, our Utah Airedale Rescue coordinator. (Sadie is Nicole's former foster child. The Monsons have adopted two Airedales from Nicole)

Sadie needs your help! She has been diagnosed with Evans syndrome where her system destroys both red blood cells and her platelets. This was kicked off by vaccinations and the vets still don't know why. She received her first blood transfusion last night and if all continues to go well will need a platelet transfusion. The vet bills are mounting so I'm asking for your help. It's expected that this will cost somewhere between $3,000 and $4,000 because she'll need several transfusions and will have to stay in critical care for several days.

If you can help financially, please call Cottonwood Animal Hospital at 801-893-2580 and let them know you are helping Sadie who is Nicholas Monson's furkid.

I'm also going to set up a go fund me account and any funds raised that don't go directly to Sadie's care will be donated to Southwest Airedale Terrier Rescue. Here is the link to the Gofundme account.

Update: Just talked with Sadie's people and while her blood numbers are holding, she isn't very responsive. The vets are stumped as to why she isn't doing better. This is a girl who is normally very exuberant and LOVES her people, she barely gave a tiny tail wag as they sat on the floor with her, giving her lots of love and reassurance.

My last Airedale JD slipped 21 Lindt's truffle balls out of the grand kids xmas bags and didn't touch anything else, I found 21 wrappers dry and clean in the LVR floor. The first Airedale Wehad used to slip cookies one at a time that were stacked up without knocking them off the stack They were quite talented.

I know one Airdale that eats chocolates, has a bad tummy ache but that does not stop him from trying again.

He was pretty calm about the whole thing. You may wonder what's going on with the screen door? Airedale exuberance! He comes and goes with gusto! Sometimes using his own door and sometimes opting to come in the people door even when the screen is pulled shut. ATTN: Phoenix Members ... The Coalition of All Breed Rescue of Arizona (CABRA), a nonprofit IRS 501(c)(3) organization is having another low cost microchip and vaccination clinic on Sunday July 15 from 9 to 2:00 p.m. at the University of Arizona Maricopa County Cooperative Extension building on 4341 E. Broadway in Phoenix (roughly 43rd street and Broadway). Check out these benefits

· HomeAgain microchip including registration is only $20 each. We think HomeAgain is the best and use them even though it costs us a few bucks more for the chip. Full Service vet registration/microchip charge would be $50+.

· Vaccinations (parvo/distemper, rabies, lepto, or bordatella) are only $15 each if the dog/cat gets a microchip or has one ($20 each if they don't). We do have the cat equivalent of distemper shots at the same prices. Please note that based on popular demand we are now offering the lepto (leptospira) vaccine. There have been some outbreaks in parts of the valley of lepto that has killed several dogs. Leptospirosis is a potentially serious disease caused by the bacterium Leptospira interrogans. It affects dogs but can also infect a wide variety of domestic and wild animals, as well as humans.

· No office visit charge. This saves you $30+

· Open to general public. Anyone can come

· No appointment necessary

· Accept cash, checks, debit, or credit as payment

We use a licensed vet for the microchips and shots.

Microchips are increasingly being cited as the basis for getting lost pets back to their owners. Check out the stories of dogs being returned after years being lost because of chips. Can’t go wrong at these prices.

NOBODY thinks their dog is going to get out and get lost but the pound is full of those dogs. Even the best owners can lose a dog.

Don't wait till your pet gets lost to think about microchipping. At these prices you don’t want to risk it.

PREP YOUR PETS FOR THE FOURTH FIREWORKS
drjeandoddspethealthresource.tumblr.com/
Prep Your Pet for the Fourth Fireworks | Jean Dodds, DVM
Much to the consternation of many companion pet parents, many U.S. states are legalizing the sale of fireworks and/or changing the times fireworks can be set off. Indeed, cats and dogs may experience a panic attack to all sudden and loud noises such as fireworks, thunder, alarms, sirens, gunfire and air shows. Of course, others may only react to some of those noises.

Stress signals in dogs include looking away, lip licking, yawning, ears back, “whale eye”, lifting a paw, tail tucking, freezing, urination, vomiting, diarrhea, hiding, or the worst, running away.

What is a pet parent to do during these times of stress? We have a few ideas that may be helpful. Some of them may work or may not work for your dogs or cats.

Feed – Don’t Overfeed

If you are having a backyard barbecue, please ask your family and guests not to indulge your companion dog with snacks or nibbles. While your dog may be able to handle the additional food on other occasions, the noise might induce stress vomiting, diarrhea or even pancreatitis.

You may also want to consider feeding your pet’s dinner earlier than usual. A dog’s gastrointestinal time is usually six to eight hours. If the firework display is set to start around 9:30 PM, think about feeding around 3:30. If you free-feed your dog, consider taking it away earlier in the day.

Exercise

Exercise reduces stress. In fact, one study showed that like humans, dogs had significantly increased endocannabinoid (eCB) signaling following high-intensity endurance running. The argument can be made that eCB signaling is an important regulatory system in the brain that largely functions to buffer against many of the effects of stress. Further, dynamic changes in this system contribute to different aspects of the stress response.

Unfortunately, the study found that eCB signaling does not significantly increase following low-intensity walking. But, we have to remember that physical activity can make us and our pets sleepy. Period.

Other ideas may be a game of fetch or a visit to the dog park. Don’t forget to take water for you and your dog.

Thundershirt

Thundershirts – or even a doggy sweater or T-shirt – work for some dogs. We definitely think they are worth checking out since they are non-invasive. However, remember that your dog is wearing clothing during a usually very hot day in most parts of the country. Make sure your house is cool enough so your dog is not panting even before the fireworks and provide plenty of fresh water.

Kennel (Crates)

Some people think kennel crates are cruel because they confine the dog. However, many dogs see them as their personal space within their homes. You want to make sure you get the right kind. Some dogs do not do well in wire kennel crates, but are great in the more solid sided plastic ones. If you have wire, you can toss a blanket over the top, making sure the dog still gets enough air. It should be a cozy environment and not too big or too small. A dog should be able to stand up, turn around and stretch.

Lavender

Spread lavender sachets, aroma spray, or the essential oil around your house that is out of your pet’s reach. You also can put a dab of the oil on the nose and behind each ear.

Turkey and Fish

Turkey is rich in tryptophan, an essential amino acid that acts as a natural sedative. So, you may want to start turkey a week or two before the Fourth of July to transition them correctly. Note that fish like cod is also high in tryptophan. However, if your dog or cat has a food sensitivity or intolerance to turkey or fish, these foods are not an option. (Sorry!)

Petting

Have your dog or cat initiate contact with you first. But, don’t avoid their requests if you are busy during stressful times like firework displays. Studies suggest that dogs prefer to be petted on their chests and behind their ears. This is true, but you know your dog best.

Over-the-Counter Calming Supplements & Treats

You can definitely try these, but please research first. Talk to your locally owned and operated pet food store, visit forums and chatrooms online, and get tips from your friends. Again, all of these people may swear by a product that works for their dogs, but may not work for yours.

If your dog is prone to seizures, please avoid products that contain rosemary and oregano. Both are considered neurotoxins and commonly found in dog foods and treats as a natural preservative. Fennel and sage should also be avoided.

Additionally, do not go beyond the recommended dosage.

Prescriptions

If everything else has not worked in the past, talk to your veterinarian about possible prescriptions. This should literally be your last resort.

PREP YOUR PETS FOR THE FOURTH FIREWORKS
https://drjeandoddspethealthresource.tumblr.com/

The only thing better than a dirt pile is a stack of clean, still warm, laundry...especially after getting out of the dirt pile.

Or that one puddle in the half acre that is muddy the after getting fully soaked running inside to share the wealth with the family

Love the hair cut ♥️

Every single time I see another airedale picture or a real live one as well as my own, I am just "twitter pated"! I have never loved any breed as much as I do these furry kids. I love all dogs, but the airedale is the love of my heart ❤️

So curly and cute!

They always seem to find something undesirable to plop onto....lol lol 😆

BIG day I mean HUGE! Our little man is finally okay (again) with riding in the car. We went out to our old neighborhood so he could meet Tawny & Mia. It was love at first nose poke. This photo of them all sitting still.....small miracle 🙂 AND Duke was so gentle and adorable when meeting Cash. Of course it helped greatly that Cash is a gentle, calm gentleman too. Thank you Holly Bennett & Diane. This is just the beginning of shared walks.

Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I sent a Brandy update. Hope you are doing well. Things continue to be great here for all of us. Today we took the two dogs to our favorite groomer and boarding facility. I dropped them off at 9:30 this morning and they were able to play with all the other dogs until they got groomed. I picked them up at around 4:45 this afternoon and they were pretty well exhausted from the play and the grooming. They are totally wiped out from a wonderful day. Here they are on our bed ready for a good night's sleep.

We continue to feel so blessed to have Brandy here, and Bella sure seems to echo the sentiment. They are the very best buddies and play happily when they are not napping (as all happy dogs do for most of the day!) They both know that there is a very loving home here and we couldn't be happier!

Thanks again for bringing Brandy into our lives and we hope all goes well with you.

Hey! I go there all the time when we’re there in the winter 🙂

BB celebrating her one year anniversary since she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. In May, 2017, BB started slowing down and not wanting to eat. Nothing showed up in the blood work and her Mom insisted on a scan, which showed a large tumor on her spleen. Although BB was 9.5 years old, she was in extremely good shape -- hiking every day, swimming, playing fetch. They decided that because there was a 50% chance it would not be cancer, they would go ahead with the splenectomy. She had her spleen removed June 2nd and did great with the surgery, but the bad news was delivered on June 9, 2017, that the tumor was malignant. The vet predicted she might have three months. Her family continued the home diet she had been on, added CBD oil and determined they would give her the very best life possible for as long as she felt well. BB immediately felt better once her spleen was removed and has continued to do well for the past year. She has definitely slowed down, and the family will not let her suffer, but for now she is enjoying her hikes, swimming, playing ball, her loving family and special treats from her sister! ... true love!!! we have two black 'dales who are the best things our lives. kisses to BB, please.

We have such a short time with them. I am so glad she is still having a great life.💖

Oh what a wonderful story! Now that I have learned about this aggressive cancer I will watch the signs with our next Dale and hopefully catch it as early as BB's parents did!

This hemp oil and switching her from dried food to raw chopped beef has helped greatly

I also adjusted the canna drops based on how she feels . She is around 57 pounds and I give her a half a dropper twice a day with approximately 3/4 pound of beef each meal . I always have a bowl of high nutritional dry food out as well which sometimes she will eat . The instructions on the bottle are for daily use age for things like light arthritis. You can call the company that makes this -it was developed by two vets who have Airedales.

Dorothy Duff ^^^

I was making Max salmon. I roasted it in the oven on a sheet pan at 400 degrees with sage and turmeric sprinkled on top. Baked for about 22 minutes. He loved that. That and his usual homemade food was the only thing he would eat the last week. That's how we knew something was wrong. He used to eat anything. And he stopped eating kibble and treats.

Love my black dale too 💕

lots of Airedale zen to Miss BB...Wishing her many many more days with her Aire-fam. They all leave us way too soon, but we love them with all of our hearts...❤️❤️❤️

She's so beautiful!! I'm glad things are going well since the splendectomy.

God bless her, she's beautiful ❤️

So true but they don't look like Airedales!

I have had two of the most different temperment dogs imaginable: a cuddly henchwoman of a chow, with little to no play drive who listened immediately and my beloved airedale. Someone taught me that to get a terrier(or any hunting dog) to follow you, get their attention, then run away. They can't help but chase you. Worked everytime.

OMG> So true. I hate when I have to use my Saint's voice. But it works. They pretend. Really.

This is Matty getting settled down for her morning nap. Those windows face west so she takes her afternoon and evening naps on the other bed.

She's been doing fine. She must have pinched a nerve or something at some point in her life, because several months ago she was laying down and just screaming. Off to see Dr. Obrein, exam, xrays. Nada. She came home with pain meds with follow-up scheduled. 2 days later, all good. She's had 2 more episodes since, but a bout of pain meds and she's back to normal. She also had developed something that would be akin to tennis elbow in a human. Patty has checked it, aspirated it, and said as long as it's not causing her problems, don't fuss. When she went in for her shots last week, Patty examined it again, and still all goods. There is a medical term for it - hydra some damn thing or another but as long as she's okay, I'm okay.

As she is a lady of a certain age, she continues to find short cuts to save energy. The latest is: Matty is having a nap, the phone rings, and now instead of getting up to howl right at it, she's lifts her head a couple inches and howls.

She is still full of energy when she plays with Logan and runs out the door with him when they hear a leaf drop. I love watching them together and it tickles me to see their different approaches. When the human is eating, Logan sits and watches with that look that says "you better be saving me something" and Matty does the head-cock thing, leans a little forward and does everything but shed a tear.

Hope you guys are braced for the upcoming heat. Sept. is only 3 months away!

Logan says "hi" and don't forget about him. He's my best boy even when he's living up to his his nick-name - Lo Lo Loco.

We cannot thank Dennis and Fran enough for taking on the "girls" at a time we were swamped and knew their being in a kennel would not be right, especially at their age. These girls were once loved but relegated to the back yard after their owner became ill and as a result had minimal human contact for several years. While they were wild when we had to catch them in their large backyard, the minute we got them in the car there were ear kisses all around. We are also grateful to Rio Bravo Veterinary hospital for the wonderful and much needed care they provided.

Please consider following in the footsteps of Dennis and Fran and adopt a senior.

Dennis and I had just lost our 2 precious Airedales, Ace last September and Daisy last October. In December, we agreed to foster two 8-year-old female Airedales, Chotzi and Chance. These dogs had not seen the inside of a house from anywhere between 1 to 5 years. We did not know what to expect since we never fostered a dog right out of a rescue situation. We were pleasantly surprised to see that “the girls” adjusted to the car ride home so we were very optimistic.

Once home, we let them get the lay of the land inside the house and outside. The inside of the house was less intimidating than the outside, most likely because they were outside for a very, very long time. They stayed put inside the house and were very content to do so. We always had inside dogs so this did not surprise us. Since they lived outside for a very long time, they were not housebroken and as you can imagine, there were several accidents. The days became easier and we took turns at night sleeping on the couch so that there would not be any additional accidents. After several weeks of training, they are now pretty much housebroken.

The girls were very happy to be with humans from the start and easily showed their affection to us. They just needed a little tender loving care. We gave them some dog toys and it seemed like they never had dog toys before. It did not take long for them to decide their favorites. In addition, Chotzi has taken a liking to our shoes, sandals, and sneakers. She does not chew them, it is like her collection of things from her new humans.

At first they did not drink water in the house, only outside. Now they drink inside as well as outside.

The first time we left them alone in the house, we found that they enjoyed themselves to the trash and had chewed and spread everything in the kitchen and living room. It was actually funny to see all the trash all over the place but now we put the trash out in the garage when we leave the house.

Chotzie and Chance get daily walks from me and they are getting much better on a leash. Chance is very, very strong and I am much more cautious with her. She seems to want to pull when she sees another human or dog. Chotzi is still a little skittish but is much improved.

It has been about 5 months since we have had “the girls”. We adopted them in March and cannot imagine life without them. They are so loving and sweet, and very appreciative of living with us. Not a day goes by where they don’t thank us for taking them in.

We are so very lucky to have these two girls. We think they rescued us and we rescued them!

We cannot thank Dennis and Fran enough for taking on the girls at a time we were swamped and knew their being in a kennel would not be right, especially at their age.

***

Hello from Guinness and Dougal in Rio Rancho

Thank you for adopting those girls! You two are very special people.

How wonderful! P.S. Something like the Freedom harness could help with pulling and maybe prevent an accident. 🙂

Wonderful home for these two lovely girls💝💝🐾🐾

My Wojo's recall word is TREAT TREAT. Works 100%. When construction guy left gate open, I saw Wojo run toward a busy street with the guy in pursuit (I scolded him later). I opened the door, yelled TREAT TREAT. He stopped, turned around and zoomed in. And he got a treat. Every time.

Hahaha...I dropped to the floor and screamed and 2 of them ran OVER my body to get to the food in the kitchen...

OK, so I'm probably sending too many pics but this was too cute not to share. A high school kid who mows our lawn brought me some antlers for flower decorations. Penny decided THIS ONE was hers; drug it out of the flower bed, into the middle of the lawn, and went to work on it.

Wish I could have gotten a pic of her carrying it.

nice! Makes my little antler look like nothing.

Now that’s the prize ! I wonder if it’s the same as those tiny antlers being sold for lots of money ?

Update on Penny:
Here she is with her new fence and 'new' yard. She loves it all!

Sure know your pain. So sorry.🙏♥️

So sorry for your loss. We know your pain. We lost our third Airedale a little more than a year ago leaving a big hole in our hearts. After more than 32 years of having Airedales in our lives we are at the same point in our senior lives as to wanting another Airedale but feel a smaller dog would be better. Of course it would have to be a terrier. We agree with you there. Our memories of our 3 Airedales help in the healing process. We think of them often and know they are having a great time being together again, happy and pain free. Judy & Glenn

So sorry for your loss. They are wonderful dogs. We had one for 13 years. 💕💔

Oh what a lovely post. I'm sobbing....these animals are a blessing and a heartache I know.....lost many a good friend. I know they're all waiting for me. Thank you for sharing and just know there's always a little fur ball that needs your love.

💔

Jeanne - I put our dale down last month and am feeling your pain. Yes, the best breed ever. We miss our Annie but we sent her up to relieve her pain as well. So sorry for your loss.

Do you have an Airedale princess?Fantasy rosettes, flowers, bugs, butterflies and more, for a dog collar, harness or halter. Detachable, adjustable pet accessory. A jewelry for a fur Princess made with beads, crystals, sequins, lace, feathers, and even a few vintage treasures found in our historic Victorian town! A girrrrlie doggie blingy baubles for a true connoisseur of all things beautiful and sweet :).

Oh, these are so much FUN to make. I recently made the first one (modeled by our beautiful Miss Gwendi here) and got swept off my feet by how much Joy it brings me to create these. There are so many more ideas in my head now! I will be adding new photos to this album as the new adornments come to life on my beading desk. Come check them out soon!

You can expect the same quality and detailing of my work and top-grade materials that you got used to when you buy my jewelry for yourself. If I can't make my absolute BEST, then I wont' make it at all <3.

A word of caution: Please never ever ever leave your precious dog wearing this or any other dog accessories when not under your supervision: the beads are glass and crystal, and are SHARP if crushed or chewed on. The ornament can cause chocking or a bowel obstruction if swallowed, whole or parts of it. Please keep your dog safe. Thank you!

Repos bien mérité

My Airedale is allergic to Bermuda grass and will lose hair on her hips. we have planted blue grass ot stop the hair lose.

🙏 for her

Try working on her gut, with probiotics and digestive enzymes. Company called Nyzmes. Check them out. Great success using their products

Our family has had 3 Airedales, 2 rescue.

To help Sammy's hair grow in I fed him 2 raw eggs beat in to cottage cheese twice a day.

Food allergies?!

What did the thyroid panel show? Sometimes low thyroid is the reason for poor hair and bringing thyroid levels up with the medication will fix the hair issues (and many others that seem unrelated, too!).

I want to adopt an Airedale I live in Orange County California anyone know of any available?

I was wondering what the panel said too. if that gives you a place to starte great. If not and the vet doing the panel is not a dermatologist (aka alergist) then perhaps move on to that type of specialist. Hope you r able to solve and address this soon.

Have you check her for allergies? My male AIRE had a terrible time with skin allergies, especially his paws. Had to watch where I walked him as he was highly allergic to some of the weeds in the field and grasses - not to mention those lawns that were sprayed by lawn care services.

ARIZONA TAX PAYERS

Remember that Arizona passed HB2523, a bill that allows Arizona residents to make a voluntary contribution via a check off box to fund affordable spay/neuter services throughout Arizona. Monies raised via this voluntary check off program will be administered at no additional cost through an existing fund. The hope is that more affordable spay and neuter programs will result in a decrease in shelter intake.

Hope he will get a lot of love there to

Can tell he's a lovable, very smart Airedale Boy. Should have a happy ending.🙏🙏🐕🐕🌹🌹

He is a handsome boy. Maybe the sweet boy would like to live in West Hollywood, California. Where is he located? Linda Tegarden

Good that he is with an experienced family! now he will thrive on love and attention. SWAT and all the rescue connections are a Godsend for so many! AND, Thank you Sidney Hardie and Rose M. in Glendale for your tireless efforts to get and keep our Furkids in the perfect homes and families! Magic Jack says Happy New Year to all!

SWAT got word of an Airedale with another rescue. They help out a lady who saves all kinds of dogs in Mexico. They take down supplies and bring back dogs to place. They were not interested in turning him over to SWAT, so we put out the word to our adopters and supporters. We were very pleased (and relieved) that one of our families was able to adopt him. He was named Rufus by the other rescue, but the family decided that Romeo was a more appropriate name for this sweet boy. ... See MoreSee Less

The SWAT family's hearts go out to the Schwartz family as they mourne the loss of Mac (Mack Truck).

Our loyal playful handsome buddy Mac crossed over the “Rainbow Bridge “ this morning after a valiant fight with cancer. This wonderful boy was in remission for melanoma and a lung tumor when he was hit fast and hard with lymphoma. We are thankful to Dr. Betsy Hershey, Phoenix oncology vet, for giving him two additional years by enrolling him in the research trial from the University if Wisconsin. The lymphoma came out of the blue a month ago. Thank you Southwest Airedale Terrier Rescue for bringing him into our lives in December 2010. He took a piece of our hearts with him and left pieces of his with us. His buddy Stella, SWAT rescue 2015, is mighty sad. We know he is resting now after giving life his all.
